'91 Corolla Wagon with a 4AGE Silvertop... including Auto/Manual Conversion

All show and no go? No problem! We all need to start somewhere. This '91 Corolla Wagon has lots of show goodies, from the air ride suspension to shaved door handles. It's competed with some good success in NOPI and has turned heads on the street. But like a lot of show cars, it was lacking the power to back up the looks. After blowing up the stock automatic tranny, the owner decided it was time for a major swap. While we're at it, why not convert it to a 5-speed as well?

The shiny, but weak 4AFE is pulled out

Wiring harness fun!

The mandatory in engine bay shot...

The engine is fit into the bay and wiring worked out... it's alive!

Some customizing was needed to the engine mounts to make the silvertop engine fit in just right, then the cooling system was fixed up and tested. A different throttle cable was needed, and the TRD Short Shifter was installed.

Lastly the exhaust is hooked up, the car is road tested and then the finishing touches are made, including the installation of a ZEX nitrous system! Here are the final shots of the complete car and engine bay.

A classic Phoenix, this car has been reborn as a high-revving, 5-speed monster ready to add all the GO... to the show :)
